Professional Cleaning
Your tooth cleaning appointment starts with the thorough evaluation your mouth examining any inflamed gums or teeth issues that may make the cleaning difficult or painful.
Depending on the condition of the oral cleanness, your dentist would recommend a regular or a deep cleaning. This procedure can be performed 2 to 4 times a year.
The dental cleaning process is performed using fine hand scalers or ultrasonic instruments or both. At the end, a prophy cup and pumice is used to polish the tooth and gently scrub off any excess. During the cleaning, we can identify the areas in need of flossing by keeping an eye out for inflammation between the gums, cavities, and more.
Use a soft-bristle toothbrush at least twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste to remove plaque, prevent cavities and provide your mouth with an overall clean healthy feeling.
You should floss at least once a day, the best time being right before you go to bed to remove any food and plaque from between the teeth and along the gumline.
